Vancouver Police Department Deploys Streambox
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is idyllic in many respects, consistently ranking as one of the most livable cities in the world, thanks in part to the proactive policing policies of Chief Constable Adam Palmer and the Vancouver Police Department.
This has not always been the case, Vancouver’s property crime rate used to be disproportionately high (compared to other North American cities), but Vancouver’s overall crime rate has been falling dramatically. Its overall crime score fell 49% in 10 years, more than twice the rate of improvement of the country as a whole. Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is determined to not grow complacent with its success and partnered with Streambox to stay ahead of crime.
VPD does real-time analysis to deploy policing resources to hot spots and even predict where crimes may occur. VPD needed video delivery with a low-latency (1-2 seconds), long battery life (4-8 hours), and a small form factor (making the camera highly mobile). Streambox Avenir Drone mobile encoder and Streambox Cloud delivered all three for VPD as well as a reasonable price with great video quality and reliability.
